EOS Lip balm

packaging design

EOS (Evolution of Smooth) lip balms have a unique spherical shape that differentiates itself from other lip balms. For this packaging redesign I wanted to emphasize its form, with a secondary focus on sustainability and user interaction.

Through case studies, market research and analysis, competitor reviews and many iterations of sketching and prototyping, the final design was realized. The packaging is made out of paper with no glue in order for it to be easily recyclable. It also molds to the original shape of the product, emphasizing its unique form. It can be easily hung on a display or be displayed on a flat surface.

The smallest details in the interaction of a user opening a package is crucial to forming a good impression of a product. Opening a packaging should be a positive and attractive experience, not difficult or unpleasant. Thus, the packaging is made to be as simple to open as possible. The user tears off the top perforated tab which then opens up like petals of a flower to reveal the product inside.
